Battle of the Books
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
**Current Month’s Book titles are listed in the Right Sidebar**
What it is: A program to invite students to read a book each month from a list of four for their age level. Then, work as a team to answer questions. The books are written at different levels that will both challenge and entertain. Battle of the Books hopes to instill teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship at the same time bringing out a love of literature!
How to Join: There is a Group for 1st -3rd grade and a Group for 3rd-5th graders. 3rd graders may choose either group, depending on the book they wish to read.
How to form a group: There are two ways this can be done.
- Students can get three other people and decide together which one book they wish to read.
- They may choose the book and we will create teams of people who like the same book.
The first Battle of the Books will be October 19. Attached are the choices for each grade group. Students need to choose one book from the list and finish it by October 19. They can read it to themselves or it can be read to them.
What happens next:
After students sign up in the office, they read the book, talk about it and then on game night, teams will get together to answer questions about what they read. Teams will earn points that will be saved until the final Battle in May. The goal is to have fun and read a good book!!

As always we need cake bakers! I have a few boxes in the PTA room. I will put a sign out sheet with them. Please let me know how many boxes you took. Just a reminder that 1 box of cake mix makes 2 cakes. Cupcakes were very popular last year too. Be creative, the kids love trying something their mom usually doesn’t bake.
