Let’s face it. Times are tough and even when they are not, nobody likes fundraising. Especially those catalog sales. Unfortunately though, we must raise funds for the school if we want to offer any type of student-related activity. During this past school year, various fundraisers have allowed us to pay for the following programs:
Cultural Arts Assemblies
Fifth Grade Outing
Fourth Grade Lansing Trip
Green Schools Programs
Daddy/Daughter Dance
Mom/Son Event
Family Movie Night
Donut Delight
Family Picnic
Family Reading Night
Field Day
Fifth Grade Recognition
Ice Cream Social
Morning Muffin Madness
Poetry Jam
Spirit Week
Staff Appreciation
Talent Show
Fundraising has also allowed us to purchase additional swings for the playground, keep up with the landscaping, make monetary donations to each classroom for educational improvements and other various donations to child-related groups.
SO HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE…as next year’s Fundraiser Chairperson, I’ve decided to ELIMINATE ALL CATALOG FUNDRAISER SALES. That means, there are no wrapping paper catalogs, no entertainment books, no cookie sales, etc. UNLESS we are unable to meet our fundraising goals in other ways.
So please, take a look at your fundraising options. Come to the Apple Fun Fair, have your kids work hard to get those Fun Run pledges (100% stays with the school), make a conscious decision to order Scrip and/or Market Day from time to time, buy Spirit Wear when it is available, collect Box Tops. And if you just can’t afford any of this, then volunteer your time. That is just as valuable. Pick your poison. But, it is important to pick. We all have a responsibility in this. These are all of our children. Let’s show them the amazing power of teamwork.
