Current Opportunities:

2026-2027 Roles


Hello Northwood families, and Happy New Year!

We are beginning the process of filling open PTA Committee Chair positions for the 2026–2027 school year. As part of this process, several of these roles offer the opportunity to shadow the current chair during the remainder of this school year, providing a great transition and setting you up for success in 2026–2027.

The following positions are open for the 2026–2027 school year and include a shadowing opportunity this year:

  • Field Day- Assists the gym teacher to put on this event; arranges needed volunteers; helps with set-up.

  • Fun Fair- Organizes our end of year family party.

  • Green Schools- Leads our Green School initiatives; submits our green school application in February.

  • Family Sports Nights- Schedules and handles ordering & distribution of tickets for family sport night events. Examples: Tigers, Red Wings, DCFC, etc.

The following positions are open for the 2026–2027 school year:

  • Corresponding Secretary- Manages weekly emails from the PTA.

  • DEI- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the PTA and school.

  • Volunteer Coordinator- Maintains volunteer lists; coordinates room parents for each class; collects event reports and distributes those to the new event chairs.

  • Family nights- Schedules and oversees the Family Skating Night, Bingo events throughout the year.

  • Science Assemblies- Arranges the science assemblies.

  • Slow Roll- Plans and supervises this activity events (This event has been inactive the past couple of years, but would love to bring it back to life!)

  • Ice Cream Social- Plans and supervises the Family Picnic event in September.

  • Restaurant Night- Arrange for restaurant night fundraiser to support the PTA.

  • Cultural Arts Assemblies- Works with staff to line up cultural Arts assemblies throughout the year.

We also have the following Board member positions open for the 26-28 school years:

  • President- Leads PTA meetings; oversees the organization to ensure it is reaching its goals.

  • 1st VP- Assists the President; Point person for Community Events; Fills in when president is absent.

  • 2nd VP- Assists the President; Point person for designated Fundraising Committees; Fills in when president and 1st VP are absent.

  • Treasurer- Keep the financials organized; handles payments, reimbursements, and deposits; leads the budget committee.

None of these school events can happen without parent volunteers-your involvement makes a meaningful difference in our school community!

Become a district approved volunteer:

(yearly registration required)

  1. Complete the mandatory Volunteer Request Form which allows the school district to conduct a Criminal History Screening

  2. Provide a Copy of the Prospective Volunteer Driver's License

  3. Submit your completed form and copy of your license to the Northwood Main Office.

Note: This form needs to be completed with every new school year (September-June) and takes approximately two weeks to process.

Additional Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for volunteers for following open positions:

2nd Vice President

Assists the President; Point person for designated Fundraising Committees; Fills in when president and 1st VP are absent

Nominating Committee

3-5 person Committee: Nominate one or more eligible persons for each office to be filled and report its nominees at the regular meeting in December.

Rewards Chair

Manage our Box Tops for Education, Amazon, Kroger, and Toyology rewards programs.
